With our new SERIES 2 version of our legendary motorcycle pannier, Metal Mule has moved your favourite luggage to new heights of development whilst maintaining its unique styling and hand-crafted construction in the UK.

How though, can we improve what the press have described as the best-designed and constructed pannier on the market?

Already the market leader in load carrying capacity - Metal Mule panniers have no cutaways that limit volume, no lumpy mouldings or ridges preventing smooth loading. We wanted to go one step further, to create pannier perfection, a totally smooth interior, improved attachment system and market leading security and ingress protection!

Whilst keeping the iconic shape of our 2mm hand-crafted aluminium body, with it's smooth bevelled corners was a no-brainer, we still managed to redesign every one of the four panels used throughout the pannier range. Even our hand-finished, welded lids were tweaked in the search for perfection!

Then we attacked the thorny issue of obstruction free interiors. No large bolt heads or lumps of metal were going to limit the load carrying capabilities of the NEW MULE. The result being an almost comletely unobstructed interior, not available on any other pannier system - with nothing to snag your clothes, bags or limbs! No lumps, bumps, knobs or nuts to snag your kit at the end of a long day out on the road.

Secondly, we looked at the execution of our patent protected Quick Attach system. To maintain our market leading position in security and ease of use, we have gone for evolution rather than revolution. Made of laser cut 2.5mm stainless steel, our new levers pivot smoothly on stainless steel rivets. Our pannier engages with the luggage frame on tactile, purpose designed bonded polyurethane coated extrusions. Unbelievable though it may seem - it is even slicker, stronger and more stylish than before!

To advance our security system whilst maintaining the flush faces of the interior, we removed the protruding lock cam and placed it outside of the pannier. This clever development means security remains the best on the market.

Finally, our lipped lid now incorporates a space-age silicone seal. Developed for the Formula One and Satellite industries, it remains an active water and dust seal in temperatures between -65 & +220 degrees C.

The culmination of all this development work is our SERIES 2 pannier system - more secure with improved locks, easier to use with our new attachment system and gentle on your kit with our new smoother insides!
